| Living a luxurious South Florida lifestyle is both a state of mind and a reality, especially when the luxury home market is your target. South Florida, for a number of reasons, including great weather, incredible sports and amenities, stunning vistas, and natural surroundings is a paradise destination with an abundance of homes and estate properties to suit the most particular buyers and lavish lifestyles.
As is almost always the case, location is one of the most critical features that determine value, and this applies to the relative desirability of luxury homes in South Florida. Due to the geographic factors of proximity to the Atlantic coast-line, and the Intra-coastal waterways, the City of Fort Lauderdale, known as the "Venice of America”, generally offers the most upscale, luxury homes closer to the waterways or directly on the Atlantic Ocean’s coastline. The absence of mountainous areas throughout South Florida concentrates this trend of luxury homes to correspond with water access and water views even more.
Therefore, life on the Intracoastal, and directly on waterways providing the best views and access to the Atlantic Ocean and all it offers seems to have the strongest appeal for most luxury homebuyers. The amenities that correspond to this lifestyle and location bring about special needs for considering dockage, seawalls, views and price options for “point lots” relative to canals, etc, all into sharp focus very quickly. Privacy is one example of a consideration for luxury homebuyers who may some privacy from direct location on an Intracoastal point lot, from a more secluded inland setting.
The relatively recent growth of Greater Fort Lauderdale in new development over the past few years has contributed even further to what was already an incredible range of luxury home areas, and styles of homes from which to choose. From neoclassical to ultra modern and everywhere in between, new construction single family homes, magnificent estates, and luxury condominium complexes have blended with some of the more classic Old Florida homes to create something for everyone. Each community in the Fort Lauderdale area has its own style of architecture and environment that adds to the uniqueness of each luxury property.
Although the tendency for the most expensive luxury homes is to be Easterly, and along the Atlantic Ocean, the Western portions and outlying areas also offer incredible opportunities for luxury homes. Further West and out-lying Fort Lauderdale, in Cities like Parkland, Plantation, Davie, and others, are cities and communities favored by some for they tend to have more acreage, which can allow “grander” and larger homes, and grounds. Some luxury homes West of Fort Lauderdale tend to be larger, and on bigger lots, which can allow for private golf courses, stables for horses and livestock, elaborate gardens, tennis courts, and extensive, detached guest and staff homes and quarters to name a few.
